Ellison x Halloween Studio Session Harley Quinn Look
This is possibly one of the greatest studio sessions and child modeling sessions I've ever had the privilege of doing. I'm so happy I got to do this creative project and cosplay photoshoot with the amazingly talented 10 year old child model, Ellison. This was probably the 9th or 10th time working together. Ellisons mom, Nichole, first reached out to me at the beginning of the year on Instagram (note/update : I no longer use social media as of 2026) in response to a model call I put out. They had seen my previous work with Sasha Bas and wanted to work together in Seattle, Washington.
Once Halloween came along I reached out and pitched a Halloween/cosplay themed photoshoot. At the time, Wednesday Addams was super popular on Netflix. They wanted Wednesday Addams costume photos, and I wanted Harley Quinn cosplay photos. I rented us a studio in Seattle, Washington. We spent the first hour of our 2 hour session doing Wednesday Addams costume photos. The second hour was dedicated to this Harley Quinn cosplay shoot. Everybody wins. It was a great collaboration.
One of my favorite DC comic book characters is of course Harley Quinn who is both a villain and an anti-hero. She was brought to the live action screen by Margot Robbie but the original inspiration of her character was Arleen Sorkin by the creators of the Batman animated series. I grew up with the cartoon on the WB (later called the CW) on tv. The original animated series was done on black backgrounds just like the Anime Akira.
This is a passion project I've always wanted to do. Sometimes you just happen to stumble upon the perfect casting choice for the role and 10 year old Ellison nailed it! Ellison is absolutely amazing to work with. I will forever wish I could work with her again. Her career took off the next year and she's continued to go places ever since. I'm so thankful we got to work together.
I used a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV and 24-70mm lens. The lighting was a combination of RGB light panels from GVM as well as a ProFoto B2 kit and 7' umbrella reflector with diffusion as the main key light.
All the props were assembled from various sources like Spirit Halloween, Target, and Amazon. There's actually two Harley Quinn outfits. One resembles more of Margot Robbies outfit and the other resembles more from the cartoon series and comic books.
